It's YouTube Vs TikTok Now in India: Tech celebrities are loggerheads against each other

Dear audience,

Tech-savvy people all around the world spend a considerable amount of time on different social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, YouTube, Whatsapp, TikTok, Snapchat, Telegram, etc. All these digital platforms are the meeting points of like-minded people.

Generally, social media users upload their images, communicate with friends, family members, distant relatives, talk about different issues of our daily lives, etc. Due to the rapidly growing influence of different social media channels, business organisations, companies, firms, law enforcement agencies, governments, schools, hospitals, colleges, etc, have a social media presence.

Different people have different choices when it comes to the selection & use of social media sites. Someone loves Facebook, while someone else is in love with Instagram. Being a tech-savvy geek, I am on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Whatsapp. But, I use Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, and LinkedIn activity. I don't have too much free time for other platforms. It totally depends on individuals which social media platforms they want to use. But, in India, a full-scale YouTube Vs TikTok war is on. Let's know more about it.

First of all, a TikTok star Amir Siddiqui criticised YouTube users. After this, many famous YouTube heavyweights started to decry Amir Siddiqui for his nonsense & baseless rhetoric against YouTube. One of them is Carry Manati (Ajey Nagar). He made an explosive YouTube video & severely criticized TikTok stars.

I viewed some sections of that viral video which garnered 77 Million views, lots of comments & likes. That video was full of abusive & offensive language. After receiving lots of complaints, YouTube removed that video from its platform. Later on, Carry Minati expressed its displeasure over the removal of his video from YouTube & clarified his stand.

It is noteworthy that YouTube and TikTok are popular video sharing platforms. YouTube is owned by the world's most popular search engine Google. In terms of audience & viewership, YouTube is far ahead of TikTok. Anyone with basic knowledge of the Internet & computer can create YouTube videos, upload it and get views from all across the world. Many people earn handsome money every month through YouTube Marketing.

TikTok is a Chinese digital platform. It is immensely popular among teenagers and people of different age groups because of its user-friendly interface & unlimited content. Its users can create short videos of 15 seconds & catch people's attention by doing weird things. In recent years, TikTok's popularity has increased sharply. It crossed 2 billion downloads. It claims to have 800 Million active users.

Despite its huge popularity, TikTok is a controversial Chinese digital platform. It is often accused of stealing user's data & sending them to the Chinese government. Many tech-savvy users declare it unsafe for use. The platform is full of low-quality & objectionable content. In the last year, on April 24, Madras High Court issued an order to ban TikTok in India accusing it of hosting pornographic content on its platform. TikTok assured to come clean on this matter. So, the Indian Supreme Court quashed the Madras HC's order.

I am keenly observing YouTube Vs TikTok war. Both sides have now made it a prestige issue & surprisingly they continue to attack each other every day. After the removal of Carry Minati's viral video from YouTube, several public celebrities voiced their support in favour of this YouTube celebrity.

In a recent development, an FIR has been filed against Faizal Siddiqui, the brother of Amir Siddiqui, for a viral TikTok video in which he is accused of promoting acid attacks on girls. Active social media users have started to dig deep on TikTok, find objectionable content & expose them on other social media websites. I believe this YouTube Vs TikTok drama is of no use & it doesn't benefit anyone.

I don't use TikTok simply because I don't like it. So simple! Although I have some objections regarding controversial content on the TikTok platform, I can't govern which platform one should use. I totally up to people's choice. On the other hand, I can't support Carry Minati just because he is a YouTube star.

Who gave him the right to abuse TikTok users on a public platform? What type of messages does he want to convey to his followers? As a responsible person, he needs to expose the shortcomings of TikTok in decent language & let the public and law enforcement agencies decide its fate. That's it.

Impressed with the rapidly increasing popularity of TikTok, YouTube is planning to launch "YouTube shorts" as soon as possible. It is reported its features & functionalities will be just like TikTok.
